Title: Question about the rotary joysticks.
Post by: Mingelover on March 20, 2006, 06:33:25 pm
Hi all! I'm just starting my mame project but need some advice before I continue with my design. I really want to have two rotary joysticks on the machine (For Midnight Resistance etc) but don't want to interfere with non-dial games. My question is can these joysticks be used with out much hassle with normal games (especially street fighter type games)? I mean I know they'll work but I'm wondering if the feel of them is adequate enough to not be a distraction while playing. Thanks in advance and any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Mike

The Happ rotaries are Super joysticks with a rotary attachment added on.  They feel pretty much like a regular Happs Super joystick.  8-way games will play fine with these sticks.

Are you talking about the optical or mechanical rotary sticks?

They're both modified Supers, so you're covered either way.

There's also the 49-Ways with the Rotary Adapters.  Those should play fine also.

The original SNK LS-30's are probably okay for 1942 etc. but not for street fighter - according to very old comments by Druin - FWIW.
