Title: Daphne: Different joystick settings for different games??

Hi all!

I would really like to have one setting for one game, and another setting
for another on my arcade machine. Is this possible? it seems like
there's only ONE setting for all the games!

Yes that's correct... one setting for all the games. 


My question to you would be why would you need different settings? 

All daphne games currently supported used either a button, a joystick and a button, or a joystick and 2 buttons. 

In other words, they all have the same control panel layout.

I remember changing the controls for the flight game so up/down where switched to make it more flight stick happy.

But I also remember undoing it after playing it for an hour or so. 

But I'm guessing.

That's why I want to do it. Astron Belt is pretty annoying right now, I want
up to be up.

Yep, same here. I can do flight style controls with a flight yoke, but my brain can't get around the reversed directions with a simple joystick.

If your FE supports pre- and post- executable calls, AND if your keyboard encoder is software mappable, maybe you could run a different set of controls for Astron Belt?

Well it's far simpleir than that if you REALLY want to do it. 

daph's control settings are stored in the ini file. 

You'd have to take your normal input, rename it, make the modified input in daphne loader and then write a batch file/script to swap them for certain games prior to launch. 

Hardcoded remapping is NEVER the answer.  Conserve those flash roms people.  ;)
