Title: Repairing Klipsch 4.1 computer speakers
Post by: TalkingOctopus on March 19, 2006, 06:41:52 pm
The rear left channel no longer works.  The rear left speaker works fine -- it outputs just fine when connected to other channels.  So I think it must be the connection with the subwoofer.  Anyone have any advice for repairing these things?

I may open the subwoofer up and see what I can see, but I'll be sad if it's no use.  I guess I could always use them as 2.1 speakers.

If you do that, please take some pictures and post them to this thread. The left front channel on my system does the same thing, except that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

After my investigation, it turned out the big round cable going from the volume control pod to the subwoofer is damaged.  I think it must have been smashed between my subwoofer and the wall all these years.  Fortunately, fiddling with it brought all my channels back to life.  You might want to check it out if you're having a similiar problem.
