Next week (possibly the week after that), I will be less active in contributing to the wiki - my youngest son (5 months) will get surgery. He has a cleft lip and cleft palate. During this week me and my wife stay with him at the hospital. His surgery is planned on wednesday 22 march.
For info on cleft see the wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleft).

Good luck. I had to spend a week in the hospital with my oldest son for another ailment when he was 2 years old. I know how hard that can be.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery for your son.

The surgery went fine. The wound still needs to heal a lot but his lip looks great, the plastic surgeon and his team did a great job! We are now back at home, a little exhausted, but family life be back to normal in a few days I guess.
Thanks for the support!
ps. we had internet connection via the tv screen near the hospital bed, I tried to edit a few things but a remote control just isn't suitable to surf the internet...

As some might have noticed, I'm not very active on BYOAC and the Wiki. There are new complications with my children's health. My wife and I spend at least one day per week in the hospital, for at least 6 more months. The good news is: things start to look better and when treatment is done the kids can have a pleasant and normal childhood. It's a matter of time.
So my spare time is fairly limited. Meanwhile I'll lurk the boards and occasionally take a look at the wiki (I still think it's a damn fine project!)

Good to hear from you and I wish you and your kids the best of health! I think watching your kids go through something is the hardest thing a parent can do . . .
