Title: Front end problem (GameLauncher)
Post by: payment_due on March 11, 2006, 02:57:10 pm
Hi all, I hope I can describe my problem properly.  I don't have much experience when it comes to front ends that are controlled soley by arcade CPs, but here is my setup to give you some background:

Emulator: MAME
FrontEnd: GameLauncher

Now, when I got this cabinet it was set up for special 'movements' on the CP which translated into controls for the FE.  For example, Holding P1 start and tapping P2 start exits a game and the front ened, holding the P1 Start button and pressing up on the P1 Joystick brings up the volume bar, P1 start and down pauses, so on and so forth.  The one that I'm having a problem with is the emulator in-game menu, which is brought up by P1Start and pressing left on the P1 joystick.

It's not coming up for me anymore, and I don't know why.  Even if I hit the 'tab' button on the keyboard connected to the PC it doesn't work, though it did work before.

I'm thinking I might have caused this because on certain games like the NeoGeo ones (4 button configs) - I would enter the in-game menu and change the button mappings to match the arcade.  I have a 6 button "Street fighter" config on my CP so for the NeoGeo setups, I wanted button 5 to be A, button 1 to be B, 2 to be C and 3 to be D.

It worked beautifully before and I had no problems, but now I can't go in to the menu and assign buttons for any games.  I'm mainly a Fighting Game fan so if I want to play Mortal Kombat 1-3, I have to change the button config to somewhat match the actual arcade setup but I can't now!

Can anyone please tell me how I can fix this?  Thanks for your help!

The controls you describe sound like the default for a I Pac keyboard encoder

If so it could possibly need re-programming?

I'm not sure about that.  Reason being that I have a J-pac in the mix, not an Ipac.

Well I know that basically  the only difference between a J-Pac and I-Pac is the they have different connectors but they do the same job.

So my suggestion stands..
