Was thinking of buying one but not sure if its a good idea. i know chad is hardcore about the saturn but i really only want to try out nights and a few others.
are there a fair amount of games-lightgun, platformer, action, adventure-that would warrant me paying 30 plus 15 shipping for one plus a few games, 2 3d controllers, and an arcade stick.

in my opinion - the best Sega Saturn is a Japanese (or region free/modchipped) Saturn
soooooo many games - perfect for schmups and fighting games, but alas the US and UK machines got ignored and alot of games were never seen outside of Japan
Souky is a fantastic litte shoot-em-up, man I could list of loads of games that make the Saturn such a sexXxay console to own, but I'd be typing all night

This Games are emulated, right? I was wondering too. If I should buy the console(s) (DC and Saturn) and just mod them or just get them emulated.
I want to have as many console games as possible in my cab.

All of the best lightgun games are on the Saturn.

Plus, there were some great 2D games on the Saturn (shooters like Radiant Silvergun and platformers like Rayman). Make sure you have a Model 2 Saturn as they're easier to mod (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=49603.0).

I love my Saturn. Out of my older consoles, it and the Dreamcast are probably tied for most-played. There were just some really fun (and revolutionary at the time) games on it. Favorites include:
Any Capcom fighter
Sega Rally
Burning Rangers (if you can find it)
Panzer Dragoon zwei (shooter)
Panzer Dragoon Saga (RPG/Shooter)
Fighter's Megamix (wacky hidden stuff and fun overall)
Astal (average platformer, but amazing graphics)
Guardian Heroes (Kind of like a tricked-out Golden Axe w/ branching paths)
Anything with a lightgun:
Virtua Cop 2
Area 51
Maximum Force
Scud
Crypt Killer
Relatively easy to mod to play Japanese games if you (or a friend) can solder wires onto a circuit board. All you need is a $3 switch and some wire.
As the peripherals are starting to get harder to find, that bundle doesn't sound too bad price-wise.

Must not forget House of the Dead, possibly the best game on the Saturn.

How could I have forgotten HOTD?
One other footnote on the gun games: they won't work on HDTVs. At least they won't on my WEGA. Before I got the new TV I used to play the Saturn more.
