Title: Feasibility - LED/LCD Control Combo?
Post by: Necro on March 09, 2006, 04:24:26 pm
Ok, seeing that Palm pilot screen thing just gave me a completely insane idea.  Anyone think this would be possible:
- small LCD screen (w/backlight or LED of some sort) for each button/control.
- when 'used' in a game, the lighting will come on so it's readable, and what the control is would come on.
- would only be for buttons, since joys could just light whatever directions are being used and it's fairly self explanatory.

I'm thinking the LCD's would just be too big, or too expensive.  Seems like a good idea and with plastic over a CP it would be protected and look good.

Sounds like overkill to me...

Hmmm, I would think it was more feasible for joystick modes as there are 8 modes supported by the GPWiz-49. Anyways, maybe it's just a little too early. Check out the OLED keyboards at http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus-mini/

The full size is due at the end of year but man, the possibilities!

I think it would be neat...and overkill?  Dude, people have cabinets that glow, cabinets with buttons that blink, etc.   Something functional CAN'T be overkill...

 ;D

And yeah those are nice but they'd have to be hacked to hell Toonces because of the distances involved.
