I am a college student that is VERY intersted in getting a Golden Tee Machine. Realistically, it looks like getting my hands on a completed one will be too expensive, so i am in need of a few things that i dont know where to go for. I am looking for a CHEAP smaller cabinet, prefereably in the caberet size preferably with the moniter, but i will take what i can get. I am in Greenville, SC, but within 2 hours of Atlanta. Any help or guidence that anyone can give me would be great!

Why not build a cabinet and run the PC version of the game in the cabinet using an actual arcade trackball and buttons. Then you could run other golf games as well, if thats your thing.

Running the PC version might sound like a good idea, but to me there's a HUGE difference. The game is similar, but certainly not the same.

You could build your own cabinet with a Golden Tee style or use an empty arcade cab. The angle of the screen would be critical if you do not want to smash your hand into the monitor so a cab with the Golden Tee style would be best. A cabaret cab will probably not serve your purpose because you will not be able to put the proper spin on the trackball without hitting the screen.
As said previously the PC game and the MAME golf games are probably not what you are looking for. You can get a Golden Tee PCB and trackball on eBay. The cost of course depends on how new the version of the game is. It looks like Golden Tee 97 may go for an affordable price. Newer versions can get expensive quite quickly.
If you do get an affordable PCB and Trackball you will still need a jamma harness and arcade or PC power supply and monitor to complete your cab. You micght get the everything you need in an old cab if you are lucky but remember to consider where the trackball will go and how much space is required for your hand.
A previous thread discussed the size and shape of the golden tee cab.

Just for kicks I did a search on ebay for "golden tee golf" There are one or two that look cheap, but shipping would definatly be a problem.
...anyway....
I found this:

...and get this... the description says:
As you know the major drawback is that when you smack the trackballs you also smack your hand into the glass in front of the monitor. Due to this problem, the trackball was placed on the top and the playfield elongated.
And here I thought the problem was they didn't want to deal with submerging trackball.

That monitor doesn't look to steep for where the trackball should be mounted. Smacking your hand would be preferable to mounting the trackball like that.
