I'm trying to find a suitable coin door for my cabinet project and don't really know what to buy... I have two requirements:
- The slots should be lit somehow
- It should be functional (alerts PC when a coin is inserted via an i-PAC or keyboard hack)
http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40000800.htm
I like the design (and size) of this, but don't exactly know what I get with it. The description reads:
"Standard Door, Double Entry w/o Harness, Meter or Box Assembly"
What is a Harness, a Meter, and a Box Assessmbly? Do I need them?
TIA!

Great topic! ;D I was two seconds from posting the same thing.
I am going for the double entry of that model but need to know what else you have to purchase to make it fully functional (lighting, cash box, coin mech?)
Anyone help with this would be great.
SIDE QUESTION: Can you purchase different color coin slots (plastic piece that says 25c) for the coin door (instead of red, maybe a blue or green?) FOUND THEM @ HAPP, never mind.

haldir,
I still don't know what the harness or meter is, but when I spoke to a Happ representative on the phone, they told me that the $97 dollars (for the double entry) includes everything you see in the "exploded view" minus the "Cash Box Assembly" (as mentioned in the picture). So you do get the wiring/lighting capabilities. I'm guess though, from the view that it doesn't come with any wires.

You are correct, the total would be the entry coin door and the cashbox, which would give you a working coin door. The only thing I am worried about is that the harness is the mounting system for the coin door to the body of the arcade.
As always, happ and any company for that matter will not include wiring. The wiring for the coin door is very easy with the exception of whether the bulbs need 12 or 14v. There are a ton of tutorials online for the wiring, but for us we have to make sure that we have all required parts first :). Wire gauge I am unsure of, but I will find out.
I checked out the exploded view and everything you need is in the price of the coin door.
This includes the lighting needed with a simple connection and ground spot. It also comes with cherry switches to connect the coin door to your arcade controls.
Looks easy enough :)
