The monitors are the Dotronix DSV27 with NTSC option.  They have a +/- 5% tolerance on the vertical scan frequency with auto-vertical hold, 500 lines of resolution and comb-filter for very nice video through the composite.  The RGB mode works with the ArcadeVGA on all but the most extreme modes.  Games of high vertical res are best used in interlace mode with these monitors, but still look great.  Maximum interlace resolution is about 720x480  I have not tested these with AdvanceMAME and/or PowerStrip, but these options should work as well or better with this unit.

They are really nice, re-certified, 27" viewable RGB monitors that you can also hook up a DVD player or console game to via the composite input.

There is a switch on the back of the unit (can probably be brought to front if a wired switch is hacked in) that allows for switching between the DB-9 RGB connection and the composite video connector.

These monitors were lightly used as part of a traveling video wall exhibit, and the previous owners stated an "on" time of only a couple hundred hours!  The black metal cases may have a scuff here or there, but the screens are pristine, and the monitors are very bright and colorful.  They are industrial quality and have been designed for heavy usage.  New price was in the $1100+ range.  The one in my cab has literally not been turned off in over a year (over 8700 hours!) and still looks like it did the day I put it in.

They are housed in a heavy sheet metal box that is just a bit larger than the tube itself.  The makes them easy to fit inside of a 24.5" wide cab (like my Defender) without having to de-case them.  The metal case is designed to stack about 500lbs on top of it, so you could dance on it without hurting anything :)

The manual for them can be found here (http://www.dotronix.com/pdf/01054dsvusermanualp.pdf)

I have had professional shipping boxes and packing made for these to insure they are delivered safely.  Each unit will be thoroughly tested to make sure there are no problems before being shipped.

The price is $275 including shipping to anywhere in the continental US (unless you live in some really weird place where UPS shipping costs double :P  But that's the price for 99% of you)

I have a limited quantity of these and once they are gone, there won't be any more.  I hate to get rid of them (especially for this price), but we need the space for new projects!

Let me know if you are interested.

Randy,

This would be perfect for my latest project but I guess because I have never used an arcade vga I am a little confused.

How difficult would this be to hook up?

Can you shows us a picture of yours installed in the cab and connected to the computer/a-vga?

This seems like a great monitor at a great price but I'm afraid I would have difficulty setting it up.

Not too bad.  Like any monitor, you would need to make a cable to attach it to the ArcadeVGA  card.  Ultimarc used to offer a VGA cable with the wires labeled, so all you would need to do is attach a DB-9 connector to it and you are in business.

I've been doing some major re-modeling, so the machine has been disconnected for the moment.  I'll look at digging out the Capcom Classics disk and snapping a few shots of SF or something.

Take a look in the Monitor/Video forums.  Just about anything that applies to regular 15.75khz RGB arcade monitors will apply to these.  These also have the ability to use composite for video/console game viewing if desired.

How is the video quality on these?

They have the normal minor focus and convergence issues and the large dot pitch, just a like a new arcade monitor would.  The RGB images are excellent.  Very bright and colorful.  The video through the composite jack is superb, due to the nice comb-filter.

The large size makes playing vertical games a joy.  Comes out to equal approx 19" in vertical orientation.

Ok, these are now available on the store in the newly added Video Cards/ Monitors category.

Anyone who is interested can just order at the store and it will automatically fix the price at $275.   No need to go through any special extra steps, so disregard earlier ordering instructions.

Any problems, just let me know.  Thanks for all the interest in these.

Are these 15hz?  And how do you campare these with a true arcade monitor?
