Title: Anyone have Happs L/R Grip Assemblies??
Post by: rbarr110 on March 07, 2006, 05:21:38 pm

I am in the process of laying out a yoke for Star Wars and am considering buying the Happs left and right hand grip assemblies.  However, I would love to save $20 on the order and install my own thumb buttons for a few bucks rather than order the grips with the thumb buttons.

If anyone has installed their own buttons for the thumb, how easy was it and what buttons did you use?

I was thinking the little red Radio Shack push buttons would work well if there is enough room to install them.

Thanks

I just took a set of these apart and measured- looks like a 1/2" hole, and 3/4" length on the switch body.  You could probably go 1" on the length, just barely, and you could probably enlarge the hole a tiny bit, too.

Do you by chance have a picture?  Or could you possibly take one?

Thanks

Ok, here's pics:

There's a bunch there, I'll just post the money shot here.

BTW, on my measurements earlier- the 3/4" length measurement refers to the switch body, not including the terminals.  The terminals add 1/4" inch.  After looking closer tonight, I think I was over-optimistic to think you could go to 1" on the switch body, unless it's narrower at the bottom.

Hope this helps!
