I have an IPAC4 and can not get the functions from player 3 or 4 to work. I know the microswitches are good because I can switch the wire to a Player 1 input on the IPAC and it will work. But in IPD it will not recognize a button plugged into player 3 or 4 inputs. I have not emailed ANDY about this yet because of the time difference to UK. I was hoping someone could provide insight on to what I was overlooking.
Thanks,
Lon

Yea I will if needed. I just thought I might get a faster response here due to the time difference.
My Ipaq 4 has 2 green lights. one for each Ipac2 , so I assume it is working, but I just havent figured out how turn on the inputs for player 3 and 4.

Did you configure them in windows with the software provided? I never could get the software that came with it to work. I had to open winpad and hit I think "cntrl + p" to access the ipac's menu. When I used the software (on four computers), it always timed out no matter how I changed the settings.

Yes this is Using the WinIpac IPD software.

Update!!! the problem seems to only affect the higher number inputs on Player 3 and 4. I moved the wires to lower inputs, player 3 sw 1 and it works. So either the higher number inputs are faulty or there is something required to energize them. I have no clue, I will send Andy an Email.

By default P3 & P4 sw5-8 are not programmed with an I-Pac 4. Only switches 1-4. When you say higher numbers, were you speaking of those higher than 4?

Yes, I had originally wired some buttons to 3sw6 7 and 8 and 4 sw7 and 8. I could not get these to work at all, even though I tried to configure them in the IPD software.

I'm not sure if mame is preconfigured with key assignments for player 3 & 4,I know for sure that player 2 buttons 5,6,7,8 needs to be assigned keys before they will work in mame.Just open up windows notepad and hit the buttons that are not working,if they spit out the keys you programed into the ipac for those buttons then you know the ipacs working and you need to configure your key assignments in mame(hit the "tab" button while a game is running to pull up the mame options menu)just be careful which submenu you use, there is one for all mame games, and one for the particular game you were playing when you opened the options menu. One effects all games and the other only effects the active game you are playing.

Thanks for the replys. I am good to go now. It was a moron thing. I was expecting my inputs to update because I told the IPD program what I wanted, but Until I actually sent the programed code back to the IPAC it could not show those buttons as working.
Thanks again for the help :)
