Okay issues beyond issues:
1) bought xbox w/ x2 lite mod chip = pretty xmas lights
2) send t llamma and they fix. runs great for three months, warranty expires and back to xmas lights.
What I am left with:
When I push the switch to disable, the regular ms dash appears. And of course when it is enabled I get the three off on clicks and the red and green lights.....
I contacted llamma to fix and was told my warranty expired by 5 days ago :'(
Then a tech says it sounds like my chip is bad!!! WTF I sent it to them, then they some what fixed it and added a new hhd (160 gigs) for about $89.00. ouch
So need help...
And when it was working I could not get any of the features from evox work, ie the ftp, changing dpi resolution and so forth.
So to bring my grand total to about $350 thus far.......... >:(
I just want this for the operating system in one of my cabs...... almost at the price of a super motherboard and fast processor or even yet a 360.

Well, if your mod chip is bad you might consider soft-modding it.
-
Or you could replace the chip with a DuoX2 Cromwell chip. They are only $14.99 and should work with all the same soldering points as the X2 lite. You wouldn't have to solder anything to the Xbox motherboard. You would just need to Desolder the DO and BT wires from your X2 chip and then resolder them to a DuoX2 chip. Then just plug the chip back onto the little prong thingies and you would be good to go.

Thx for the help!!
How good is the DuoX2 Cromwell chip? The X2 lite has been trouble since I got it!!!

I haven't had a problem with mine so far. I'd recomend ordering one from OTBMods.com I've never been ripped off by them but I can't say the same for other mod chip dealers.

does adding more ram help the xbox? meaning taking it up to 128 versus the 64.
-
I believe adding RAM helps if you plan on playing emmulated games, but I don;t think you wil really see a difference with Xbox games. I do remember that some games needed 128MB when I ran MAMEOX.
-
Didn't they make it so you can't upgrade the ram on the newer version xbox's? Also soldering on extra ram seems like it would be pretty hard to do.

I don't think your chip is bad. I think your connection to the LPC port is bad. Putting a new chip on there would not solve the problem.
-
Did you fix this problem? If so, what was the cause?
I had a similar problem and it did turn out to be a bad modchip (corrupt bios, wouldnt correct with a reflash), but Shmokes may be right too, i dunno.
I wanted to second that the Duox2 chip is a great chip. Inexpensive but does everything that you need.

I snet it to snaake for a new chip, he says it is running fine Llama installed it crappy. Dont have it yet because I was trying to get him to install daphne .96. No luck with that tho!

X2 is usually a really good quality chip.. The DuoX ones are definitely "value" chips. ;) As stated above, it's probably a bad connection.. My main xbox likes to frag every one and awhile, but if I jiggle the wires inside it's okay. One of these days I'll get around to resoldering stuff, but at the moment that works well enough. :) Probably just a loose/poorly-soldered LPC connection.

Hah....I knew it was just a bad connection to the LPC port.
