Title: Cleaning a dusty PS2
Post by: Daniel270 on March 06, 2006, 12:50:36 am
Has anyone here done it?  And what advice do you have?

I've got a PS2 that I've had for about 4 years.  It's seen regular use and has MANY gaming/DVD hours on it.  Just got to really looking it over and it appears to have extreme dust buildup in the venting holes and I'm nervous it's as bad inside....

If you can find a laser lens cleaner that is compatible with your PS2, then that can keep you good for a long while. (Not all CD laser lens cleaners work with the PS2.)

But unfortunately, as soapboy mentioned. The only way to truelly clean your PS2, is to take it apart.

and if your having disc read issues, you can adjust your laser fairly easily as well

I've been really lucky with disc read issues... but, I can definitely hear the system whine a bit while reading...
