Title: Golden Tee Guru Needed Please Help
Post by: BROKENARCADE on March 05, 2006, 02:49:37 am
Hey guys, I picked up three gt o5 boards from a guy out in texas. There is a problem with all of them. First board, resets over and over, nothing ever comes on the screen and it just does this continually. The second board will come up fine, go through the hd test, but then goes to the adjustables menu right away and will not exit, its as if the service button is continually held down. Finally the third board, when the trackball is hooked up, I get nothing on the right side in the way of action out of the trackball, instead it credits the game with credits and increases the volume, this I can monitor in the controls test menu. I used the same hard drive on all three. Any help on any of these issues would be great. Also wondering if a deer hunter could be switched with the one where the trackball is servicing credits and adjusting the volume, I figured the gun hooks up somewhere else but I am not sure. Thanks guys and let me know.

Keep in mind that the GT Fore series only *loosely* adheres to the JAMMA standard, pretty much only for power.  Make sure you have your pinouts correct.

Here are the most simple / common issues related to those symptoms.

Board 1- Low or high voltage from the power supply; unseated chips.

Board 2- DIP switch toggled to the test position (unsure which DIP this is ATM)

Board 3- Incorrectly wired JAMMA harness.

Good luck!

Actually NO power goes through the Jamma harness on the GT Fore boards.  The power connects directly from the power supply to the PCB.

Also, on board #3, it doesn't make sense that the trackball is giving coin credits.  The trackball should hook directly to the PCB and not through the Jamma harness where the coin inputs are.

It would probably be worth your while to call the service department at Incredible Technologies.  I found them to be very helpful.

Alright there is a lot to respond to, which is good cause you guys are all willing to help. As for the wiring of the boards. I have a dedicated 2005 cab of my own that I am plugging all these into, so I know its not the wiring. I am going to check for any unseated chips, good idea and really did not consider it just because of the few ammount of chips on the board. I know that that voltage is fine as it comes up on all the other boards and I have it at 5.1 which is ideal for the gt boards. I have NO idea why the third board is servicing credits and turning up the volume when the trackball is rolled. It is not hooked up through the jamma, the trackball I have hooked up correctly with a harness at trackball 1 location. let me know if this can clear anything up for you guys to possibly think of a solution. thanks

alright so here is what I did NOW. so i had two older series fore boards. I switched out the chips from the broken 05s to some older ones, tried to hook that up and all I get is after the loading game screen a red screen saying something about software and hardware issue. Is this because I have to update them through a cd and not just switch the chips?
