That room could be converted into a nice game room...

Thats awesome. One of the things on my list "When I become an eccentric billionare" is to have a ton of crazy secret passages and escape routes. They must have gotten sloppy if they were caught.

In the end, you have to figure, that they were moving huge quantities of pot out of their house. Combine that with probable income tax evasion etc and the path was probably not that tough to follow.
Cool hidden doors etc though.

The authorities might have got suspicious at the amount of electricity the house was using.

I thought about that too. I remember seeing a report about 10 years ago where electricity usage (for all the grow lights) was used to ID possible pot growers. But with all the electronics and power draws in my house (lots of CRT monitors), I'd be surprised if most in-home-pot growers could be identified in that manner. Particularly since those lights all seem to be fluorescent based, which take less power than incandescent.
That being said, these guys look like they've got a huge operation going on there, so I guess it's possible.

That makes me happy. I want one.

As awesome as that house is, it's in Tennessee. Thanks, but I'll have to pass.

Hey, it will probably end up auctioned off right? Think of the ARCADE you could have down there!

Yeah, a secret arcade with an escape route.
-
wow. that's all i have to say.

I know someone who used to have a hydroponic farm going and you are right in saying the energy consumption is unreal and this was not even on the same scope as what those guys in TN were running. The guy I know used to put a pin in his meter so the power drain was registered and of course that theory was shot when the meter reader came by. Now he is in jail and I think he gets out in a week or two.

why would you want an escape route from an arcade?

Potential for a vector game to spontaneously combust on you?
Really though, how do you make something like that without SOMEBODY knowing about it... the builder, or anybody for that matter. It is cool as hell though.

Look at the picture right below the one of the hatch coming out of the backyard. See the guy on the righthand side? Before I saw him I had a distorted perception of scale... that place is huge!

That same picture makes me wonder if the proper precautions were taken to keep the roof from coming down on top of everything at any given time.
