By pressing 2 keystrokes at the same time.
Example:ESC+P
I wonder if that was possible, maybe using a Batch file?
-
Use the shift function of an Ipac. I actaully do the same thing because people accidentally hit the esc button during play. Problem solved with 2 button esc.
-
what i really wanted was by pressing ESC+P keys would shutdown my computer
I have 2 black buttons on my stik stik.
they are far from each other.
Would be nice if i could press both of them and the computer exits the frontend and shutdown my pc.
-
This may be built into the front end. MameWAH is capable of this.

on my cab i used a macro to allow me to press 'fire' and 'player two' to exit and shut down. it has an ipac, i hadnt realised it could do that...
-
I have I-pac,but i have no clue how to use the macro function.
is it possible by pressing 2 keys at the same time will be like pressing a F6 key?(an example)
thanks guys

could you tell me how to use the macro function?
Thanks a lot Danny.

I can't recall off the top of my head. I will look when I get home this evening and post. I do seem to remember that it will handle 4 macros per IPC file. This means you can program a single key press to be equivalent to say Alt-F4.

Open up winipac.
Go to panel layout view.
Instead of left clicking on a button to change the assignment, right click on it.
Scroll down to Set Macro. Here, you can define your 4 macros.
Now, Right click the button again, and pick the macro you would like.

thanks it worked. But the problem i don't want the kids to accidentally press that button while playing.
I have 2 black buttons ,one to the left and the other to the right.
I wanted to shutdown the machine by pressing them at the same time so that way won't happen any accidental shutdown.
Thanks a lot

I can appreciate what you are trying to do, but why not just add a microswitch button somewhere out of sight? Either on top, behind, or in the coindoor maybe? Escaping a game by accident is one thing, shutting down is a whole other topic. You could use those two other buttons for use with Johnny5 or CPMaker or something else within a front end that is useful to the players.

Can you tell me where can i get this microswitch?
Thanks a lot

Just any old button. Here is a pick of how I did it on my cabinet. On others that I have built, I've put them in not so obvious locations. On mine, you would have to be trying to hit it, that is why it's on the front. Plus, I don't have kids, so no accidental hitting. When installing, you just cut the two wires that are hooked up to the power button on your cp and connect those to the microswitch button just like any other button. One wire goes to ground, one goes to the positive.

If you set one of the buttons as the Switch button on the IPAC (normally assigned to Player 1 Start), then that would do what you are asking.

Just the voice of common sense chiming in. You can shutdown windows via a specialy made shortcut file. You can call shortcuts via hotkeys. So instant solution I'd say.

would you believe i didnt know that the IPAC had a macro function?! i used a conventional macro.
and howards idea is amazingly easy. i gotta listen to him more (except when he talks about cars ;))
