Title: Latest arcade goodies #2
Post by: nostrebor on March 01, 2006, 03:32:38 pm
So the take was so good last week that I made a second trip to see Stefan in Joplin, and picked up some more goodies!

First up is a Cabaret Turbo. This is complete except the shift knob. I even had to drill the locks. Don't know if it works, but will soon find out.

Second is a Neo-Geo in a Sega cabinet that should prove to be a Congo Bongo. We didnt know what was inside this one (was hoping for a 4 slot!!) it didnt have the correct board but does have some jamma board in it. I have a 1-slot that will take up residence here after we move. This was my first Sega cabinet and it is built like a tank! It's as heavy as Atari cabinets.

Third pic is the coin box from the Turbo. After counting the quarters in this one, I have roughly $30 in both cabinets ;D ;D This is my first cabinet that came loaded with quarters. There was some mouse poop mixed in as well though :-X

As a Neo Geo fan and as a classic cabs fan, that picture makes me cry out of both eyes.

Yup. It's just that nice :P

It is some kind of weird sin to make a brown NG cabinet. Of course everyone knows that the operators were never afraid of the sin of bad conversions.

Could be a Congo or it could be a Zaxxon.

A bit of an update. The Neo Geo has a Jamma board in it... Castle of Dragon. It works 100% but the game play is lame. It'll be a fun game to toy with until after the move.

The Turbo powers up, allrunning, but has a board issue, frozen with the background intact, but the words are garbled and it wont coin. The insides of this one look like the dashboard of the Space Shuttle  :( It will have to wait until all my tools are unpacked after the move. I also found a 4' plus long snakeskin in the bottom of it :o. Somewhere out there is a naked snake.

that Congo/Zaxxon cab is big, not worth luggin around with castlle of Dragon in it. I just had to strip one and toss it. One thing i liked about it and wish i could have played with it a little more. Take the top off the base an it is just under perfect height for my 3 year old(maybe add a 2x4 to the bottom to get it a little higher. Second, the base probably could have been made into a crude cocktail if i wanted to mess with it some. Your looks good though.

for the record.....it was in poor condition,. Looked like it got wet from the top down. but it would have been good enoguh to mess with.

I may have some Turbo parts for you, Nos.  I've got one here I was planning on parting out due to cab damage.  It plays blind right now, so I don't know if the video is good, but the sound says it's playing.  I haven't been inside it yet- I've gotta drill some locks, too.  I've got a shift knob-  It's ugly, but better than nothing.  Looks like you need a start button, too.

Need anything else?

It just doesn't get much better than that, except to perhaps break even. I was bummed that I didn't even find a token in my cab when I brought it home...
