Title: Who would like a KeyWiz MAX option that offered Hi-Bright NL and CL LED Support?
Post by: RandyT on February 28, 2006, 12:21:26 pm
Here's the deal, folks.  The KeyWiz MAX has been ready to support this feature for a while now and it's been beta tested for about a year on one individual's panel.

I've also just provided it to another by request.

So here's the question:

Would you like to be able to connect Ultra-Bright LEDs (with resistor) for NL and CL LED functions, that do not blink when buttons are pressed and do not remove the use of any of the 32 inputs (when used with 2 joysticks) , for an extra $5 on the top of the normal MAX price?

If so, I will make the option available on the site.  If not, I won't bother with another version for now.

Thanks,
RandyT

NL and CL LEDs?  ??? Will they still be animate-able and select which ones are lit by a command-line program?

No, the LED-Wiz is still the way to go for fancy stuff.

This is just an advanced way of dealing with the NL and CL LEDs that uses some extra hardware and some tricks to accomplish.   So if you like the blinky light that some games give you when you add a credit, then this will let you add a high intensity LED (~20ma)  to whatever 2 buttons or indicators you want to reflect those functions.  It only supports the primarily used CL and NL leds, not the SL (Scroll Lock.)

NL and CL LED's = NumLock (Player 1 in some MAME games) and CapsLock (Player 2 in some MAME games) LED's.

Would you (or do you already) also offer the LED?  and if so could I choose color?

Thanks!  ;D

I couldnt figure those out.  Not being an LED expert, I thought the terms referenced LED info.

Hmm, that's interesting. Two questions pop to mind:

1) Can the light signals be reversed? ex. Player 1 lights up UNTIL you deposit a quarter. (the 'feed me' response)

2) How many games actually support this function? If there is enough supported games, I would be interested.

Anything CAN be done if you understand the MAME source code and want to modify it.  Otherwise, I don't think so . . .

Mostly Atari Stuff - BattleZone, Asteroids, AstDelux, pac man in some versions of MAME. . .
