Does anyone use their trackball as a mouse in their frontends? Or are their even any frontends which allow it or does everyone just use their joystick?
-
I run windows on my cab and use the trackball as a mouse. Works great!

I use gamelauncher in DOS and it accepts trackball input... but I genrally use joystick to selct games...
unless you don't have joysticks on your cabinet/control panel (swappable?) why would you want to? *shrug*
I do use the trackball as a mouse when in windows.
I guess mame32's gui if it counts as a front end you can use your trackball to select games, et al...
*shrug* it's just a trackball you can use it as such... (assuming you've hacked/optipack/wired up to interface with your PC)...
Good luck!

I use my trackball as a mouse in my cab. I didn't want to allocate precious space on the control panel for redundant trackball (mouse) buttons 1 and 2, so I mapped them to P1 buttons 1 and 2. This has worked for me but it has caused some windows issues due to the dual nature of pressing those buttons. It's nothing show stopping mind you, but if you have the room on your cp for the buttons, and you dont mind it looking a little 'busy', I encourage you to use the extra 2 buttons.
-
Atog what are the issues you speak of? I have been thinking about removing my 2 extra buttons.

Yup, I use my trackball as a mouse in windows....

If he means he has those buttons hooke dup as BOTH ipac and mouse then yeah, there could be problems, That's why you need a smart inteleigent way to do it that I have mentioned before.

Sheez, King Poonga.....
Come on, post that link to your relay, you know you want to... ;)

NO!!! Go use the forum's searach, it's what it is there for:)

When it works correctly. :)
I swear, sometimes that thing works great, other times it only returns garbage. I've searched for my own posts before (yes, I set the # of returns and changed the default time period correctly!!), and it won't find them. Then I manually go back and find them, sure enough, they they are.... Sorry for the minor rant, it should probably go in the Board Discussion forum... :)

The issues are that whatever those ipac buttons 1 and 2 are mapped to (left shift, ctrl or alt) have some windows features like 'select all' or something like that, so if you use the same buttons for the ipac and optipac and click a lot on a lot of different things in windows, you build up a bunch of stuff selected, and then when you double click to execute, you launch everything. It's not a horrible thing but it can be a pain at times. For me it's worth it because I wanted a super clean and non cluttered control panel and I was willing to make some sacrifices for it (some days I really want that spinner knob but boy do I not want to look at it nor lose the real estate).

I don't get it? Do you have a ipac input and a mouse button wired to the same button? Why not simply remove the ipac inputs from those buttons and program your emulator to use mouse b1 as p2 b1.

(some days I really want that spinner knob but boy do I not want to look at it nor lose the real estate).
has anyone done a removeable spinner? all you would have on your cp is a 5/16th hole (with plug if it bothers you..:-) , drop your 1/4" shaft w/mounted knob into the hole when you need a spinner, turn slowly till the shaft drops into place in the receptacle of the spinner electronics, and you're off to the races.. :-)
(oversimplified, i know, but you get the drift of what I'm suggesting..)
so, anyone done it yet?

I want P1B1 mapped to Enter normally. Think about that one and you you will understand why.

I'd relocate the mouse buttons to p2 b1 and b2. That would leave p1b1 able to be mapped to enter.
