Title: how to replace space invaders monitor ?
Post by: markymarky99 on February 26, 2006, 02:18:22 pm
hi, i just picked up a space invaders cab.  i want to put a new monitor in it, however i see that this machine uses a MIRROR system.. is there any special monitor that is needed or extra wiring needed to be done, or will any new monitor reflect the way it originally does ?  This will be a new jamma based system, will not use original space invaders hardware,, thanks,, mark

if you have a mirror projected image then you will need to reverse one pair of scan coil wires so you actual picture will be back to front.you will need the schematics to deduce which colour wires are which pair, for example your four wires going to the scan coils the horizontal is red and blue, the verticle is green and yellow,by cutting the wires and joining with some connector block red to blue and blue to red, green to yellow and yellow to green then your picture would be upside down inside out.we had to do this years ago before game boards had picture reverse switches.but please you would have to be certain which colour wires are the correct pairs otherwise you will fry your chassis.but as you are probably using a pc in your cab there may be a way of doing this in the graphic card setup, which would save you any risk but unfortunatly i am not up on mame/pc based game systems only good old fashioned arcades pieces, might be worth reposting this under graphics card/mame setup heading.
