Post by: Wetworks on February 25, 2006, 07:57:41 pm
Man there are some nice cabs here...Warning though there are  96   photo's...Wish I lived in the U.S.A some times! There are few cabs there I would definitely restore and keep!

Link shortened, dogonneit! (http://cgi.ebay.com/Huge-lot-of-vintage-arcade-games-and-parts_W0QQitemZ6255953135QQcategoryZ13716QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

What do you think the final auction price will be?? My guess is over $1500 (US)

Combatribes - a must for any serious collector

I've got a converted Xenophobe to combatribes cabinet. I've got some pretty cool plans for it.

Great auction if you live around the corner from the guy, other wise the shipping would be nuts.

That must be why it's local pickup only.  ;D

There is some pretty nice projects in there.  The ones I would be interested in that pile would be Crystal Castles, Spy Hunter, DK Junior & Rolling Thunder.  That palmreader would be fun to play with.  At least a majority of them seem to have the boards, decent CPOs and other artwork.  The only thing that seems to be stripped are the monitors.

I think the problem with that auction is that you have to take ALL of it (I'm assuming).  I'm like you, I would like the CC, DKJR, Spy Hunter, and maybe a couple others, but not the rest of it.

Hey I am willing to buy this entire lot/collection and the part them out to people here on this board, I ma interested in a few of the games, namely Spy Hunter, Crystal castles, and the palm reader, and the crane game at a glance.  I ma not too far from here and am going to go take a look at these here this week.  I will let you know if they are going to be worth buying as a lot when i see them in person.  Just letting you all know this as i have a bunch of these games already.

That may be a good idea if you have a lot of local BYOACers who can put a list together of what they want.  Shipping would kill any deal to be made.

I've heard that Gyruss is the poorman's Tempest, but I've never seen one in a tempest cabinet. It'l like Ripple in a Golden goblet.

And what is up with the fancy burl wood sides on this thing? Weird.

Gyruss is an awesome game.  It's like a cross between Tempest and Galaga.  Great music.  This is a converted Tempest, but Gyruss had it's own dedicated cabinet as well.

I'm sorry. I should have said "older crap converted to newer crap". Is that better?  ;D

(just kidding. I just never liked Xenophobe. It was hard to play, with unintuitive buttons and play mechanics).

I would go up to around $700 - that's a good amount of cabs. Shame he didn't list which ones actually work...

I think thats becuase only 1 or 2 do work. I looked the pictures over farily well and it appears almost 75% of them have no monitors. Another 3rd of them have been taken apart, so expect pieces missing, maybe simple parts like buttons or joysticks, but who knows. I'm sure many would work with some small stuff, and alot of the ones missing the tubes probebly work too, but Monitors are not cheap. Still an interesting auction, a couple of real oddballs in there from a "rare, but not interesting" standpoint.  Kyrus, Spine Breakers..

Anybody tell me what cab the one Combatatribes is in?

Also the little white thing appears to be a (hard to see back well) some type of fridge unit.. possibly a ice cream vending unit, or maybe a 2-3 row pop machine.

Looking these all over I had to check what a large U-Haul would cost... I was tempted, but I do not have the space to put um all while I went over um. The Spy Hunter, Crystal castles and The converted Tempest (I still want a dedicated Tempest!).... caught my eye, lots if fun there for somebody with space and close to them.
