Title: I there a way to get a Mrs. pac stick with black ball top?

I want to buy a couple of Mrs. pac man/ Galaga reunion sticks yet I noticed that they only come in red.
    I have six joystick so far (for my three sided cocktail)  and they are all black. I know that ultimarc has a good reviewed 4 way in black but I have never tried one and I love the feel of the reunion stick down at the local pizza parlor. I suppose I could paint one black.
          Any one know where I cold find a replacement stick with a black top? :P

You might be able to fit one of the groovygamegear versaball shafts on to a Mspacman/Galaga joystick base.

If the ball will unscrew from the shaft (some do, but people have said some don't), then you can buy a replacement black ball from McMaster-Carr

The black ball top is part number:  6046K17

Thanks for the input so far guys. I suppose I will get one from ponyboy and have a whack at it. Whats the worst that can happen? Ill be out around 20 bucks. Too bad some poor SOB hasn't tried it yet. I guess that poor SOB will be me. Will post my results.

 Or maybe I should wait a couple days to see if any one else has tried this.

You could try e-mailing Mike and ask him if the shafts on his black ball joysticks are compatable with the Ms.Pac/Galaga bases. I could be mistaken but I think Mike sells both the Happ and Betson versions of the Ms.Pac/Galaga Reunion 4-way joystick and just maybe the shafts in the black ball sticks that he sells may be compatable with the Betson version if not the Happ version. I think Betson also makes the new Black ball 4-way joysticks that are being used in the new DK/DKJr./Mario Bros cabinets that Namco is reproducing so you might want to e-mail Betson directly as the bases on them look very similar to the Ms.Pac/Galaga sticks. They all seem to look like nothing more then a restricted Happ "Super" style joystick base so you should be able to mix and match something together. If you need a link to Betsons site let me know.

This should work.  I haven't tried it personally, but I have had numerous folks tell me that it fits.

But if the ball unscrews, replacing it will be a better option.
