I would be very interested if the price were right.  There has always been a lot of interest in these "drop shipment" orders, but alas its never been enough.  I am not too picky on style, but I would prefer one that has a 29" Monitor and 2 players with the SF layout.

Although if you can get a list of cabs he can get I am sure there would be a bigger interest.

I'd be very interested depending on the problems that always crop up with these drop shipments:

1) What would the prices be?
2) Where are you located, and what would shipping from your area to my home be?
3) What models would you be able to get?

I really, REALLY want a candy cab, but it always winds up being cost-prohibitive when everything is worked out :(

If you can get us more details, there's a chance I might be interested.  I'd be most interested ina 29" cab as well, especially a SUper Neo 29.

Check http://www.coinopexpress.com for some prices

There are many types of candy's but if the cabs were nice and at a fair price I'd buy a couple from ya Mike. Since you are somewhat local for me. Japanese candy's or Japanese cocktails would prolly sell well.

Any chance of you posting a pic of the candy that you got as a tester?

As has been said before, I would love to get one, but the shipping costs always put it beyond the price I'm willing to spend.

OK, I'll try to get some prices and post some pics.

For the guys on the east coast we might be able to have several shipped to one location and everyone could drive an hour or so to pick them up. This would proably mean a big savings on shipping.

Also, does anyone know of anywhere that sells them in the US? I'd like to get an idea of what they go for here. The problem with coin-op express is shipping to the US is extremely high, so it doesn't give me any real idea about what the retail pricing would be on these things.

The only place I know where to get them is from some guy, "Matsu",  in CA.  Here's his latest:

Quote
Matsu is getting another shipment of cabs in two weeks. Here is a list of what he will be getting in this shipment, and how much they are going to cost (pick-up).

1. Astro City $450 * 5
2. New Astro City $475 * 2
3. Neo Candy 29" $500 * 2
4. Cyber Lead $700 (high res) * 10
5. Aero City $350 * 9

That is his next stock... give him an email gamemachine2003@hotmail.com

I know richardp on here had a bunch for cheap i.e. 200-250 each iirc.

Paul Richards and Matsu sell the same cabs out of the same location.  Paul has some of the older 25-26" neo's and aeros in the $200 range.  Matsu's prices went up $50 in the last couple months, but are still a good deal.  He also has super high end Egret3s (Atomiswave version) ones for over $1K.

Mike, I hope the supplier you have is a very good personal friend.  If you are going through the normal hongkong distributors, you better be very carefull as I've herd horror stories of them jacking up prices, sending beatup/broken machines, adding fees at the last minute.  Matsu does well since he has personal connections.

If you do decide to order, try to find Egret2s.  I'd be interested in one (or more) of those.   ;D

Mr.Megalo can confirm, but I believe the monitors in the chinese copies are 15khz only, where as Naomi's are Tri-Res.

yep the LS sound and Naomi clones are all China Brand Tubes and China Brand 15K only chassis.

without sounding harsh. . . . . the cabs themselves are cool, the monitors. . . . . well. . . . . I personally never had any "real" problems with them except they needed degaussing several times with a degauss wand (the degauss coil on the China Brand monitors are soooo thin)

the problem with the china brand chassis is they DONT like to be rotated, over at our forum we had several peoples who have had chassis problems/flyback problems after tating the LS screens, I guess the weight of the flyback and the soldering on the cheap chassis played a big part in it.

dont get me wrong, they are great cabs for first timers or someone who wants something that looks minty fresh compared to a 2nd hand cabinet, but after awhile your gonna want to start thinking about replacing themonitor with something better.

Thanks for the clarification Mr. Megalo.  People should note, that ALL the cabs listed are chinese knockoffs, so they will all have that same chinese monitor/chasis.

Actually I believe you can order these chinese cabs without monitor (just in Kit form) and have the cost/shipping MUCH cheaper.  Mike you may want to look into this option.

I haven't got the pricing yet. I've sent two e-mails to my importer, but no reply. This has happened before when my importer is visiting the grandparents. There's no e-mail at their place. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't even power as I think they live far outside the city.

As soon as I get pricing I'll post it.

These are Chinese models and have 15khz monitors. I think 31khz versions may be available for a few, but I'm not sure.

I really want one also, but I fear that shipping will make it not worthwhile.

Silly questions: it is only the empty cab and monitor, without internal components (games) right?
If I want to mame this, what would I need to interface with the computer with the monitor? Would a normal video card with video out work? I currently have mame out to a regular 25" tv through svideo, and I was wondering if I need to buy anything extra to make the transfer to one of these candy cabs.

THanks.

I think you have like 3 questions in there.  1) the full cabinets will have monitor and jamma harness 2) normal video card with video out will not work, you'll need an arcadeVGA card or equivelent that outputs 15khz (unless you are going for the Super King 2 which can handle 640x480 vga) 3) You will also need a jpac to interface the controls to your computer.

Personally I want to know if the flatpack option for these cabs comes with control panel and jamma harness.  Also want to know if its actually cheaper to just order these on our own as I don't want to pay for it shipped in bulk with someone elses 200lbs cab.

Thats why I'm asking about the flatpack shipping option.  Basically the cab is disassembled and shipped as a "kit" without the monitor.  Should be significantly cheaper shipping, but we'll see.

Along with my request for $ I requested spec and dimensions of the various cabs especially the super king and so far the only reply I have recieved from them says 'Will look into it"

You would think that if they offer cabs that this type of into would not only be readily available but on the web.

My request was much simpler since I asked for price of just one cab shipped without the monitor, and also got a "will check for you" response.  I bet they just partnered with another supplier of those chinese cabs, and have to ask them for the details.

These things are going to be a big unknown, and you may never get good answers.

For example, the Naomi Universal replica cabinet. Is it a good enough replica that offical control panels will fit correctly? And if the cabinet comes with all the wiring, were they kind enough to use the same type of connector for the control panel wiring? Not to mention is it wired as JVS or Jamma etc etc.

I'd probably be willing to order one without knowing any of this, but if you're not the type to get your hands dirty, you run the risk of getting something that isn't 100% plug and play.

Dave: I bet the shipping is cheaper, but the problem is it's cheaper in comparison to the full assembled cab with monitor. The coinopexpress rates for shipping single cabs are pretty steep, and even if you half that... Some of the 'kit' panels still need to be pretty big, I wonder if it would even be shippable via EMS.

When (if) you get a response, let us know, I'd be interested in ordering a without-monitor cab myself.

Zakk,

yes an official Sega CP will fit perfectly, I breifly owned a Naomi clone last year, firrst job was fit a new CP .

NO its not wired to JVS - if it was wired to JVS, it would cost a fortune, JVS or "JAMMA2" as it is known to some, uses some fairly expensive I/O boards, stereo amps and PSU's - at best the cabinet will be wired to JAMMA with a cheap generic china brand PSU.

to be honest, when I got mine, I had to more or less rebuild half of it anyways to sort out some earthing issues, monitor discolouration, new CP, extra wiring harness and generally making sure the cabinet all sat flush, originally it looked like it had been thrown together and nothing sat right (CP surround for example was not flush with the monitor plastic surround)

IMVHO - pop a tri res 29" monitor in, use a decent PSU and a new CP instead of the china brand knock off buttons/sticks and they make a good cabinet, not a patch on the real Sega cabs tho but they do do a decent enough job structurely.

slight note, the Naomi clones weigh approx half as much as the real deal
