Has anyone used a bookpc as a mame cabinet pc? Seems like a breeze because its so dang SMALL! and not a ton of extra wires floatin around. Hell the whole thing can fit in a Control pannel! SO has anyone made one?
-
Yup, there's a few out there. One guy built a few cabs using iBooks. Check them out. They are pretty cool. http://www.inanna.com/~calhoun/projects.html.

Not an IBOOK, a bookpc, those ones with everything on boad that are super small, but WINDOWS based pc, anyone?
-
We're talking size, right? What difference would the OS or manufacturer make? The point is to use a small, neat unit in a MAME cabinet is it not? IBOOK, BookPC, whatever, if it's just being used for a MAME cabinet, it's all semantics.

The guy that posted about the ibooks did it to show other small form factors being used. The Ibook link shows some great ideas for what can be done.
The problem with bookPC's is the same problem you'll have whenever you have a motherboard with everything built in. Your limited in video and sound options. Some work very well for mame. Others not so well.
Theres a company called arcade in a box that puts a pc inside of the control panel. http://www.arcadeinabox.com/ (http://www.arcadeinabox.com/)

Or do you mean build one using a Mini-ITX motherboard?
