I was just curious I spend more time working & tinkering with my cab, than i actually play games, I'm forever trying new frontends or improving what i have...

yup

Me too...I am constantly searching for...
J O Y S T I C K N I R V A N A ! ! !
...so I am always tinkering and experimenting with control panel designs.
I have 2 shelves full of hacked PC and console joysticks, trackball mice, wires, parts, junk, etc...
all my control panels are MDF mock-ups, my 1-1/8" hole saw and my drillpress are my best friends...

ya :D

Absolutely. That's the fun in it. My wife is always wondering what the heck else I could possibly need to do to that thing.
-
My cabs are only operational "occasionally." I usually have them torn apart for "tinkering."
-
Ha! You hit the nail on the head. I don't think I'll ever be 'finished' with my cab. This is a perfect tinkerers hobby.
-
My hand is raised in Horseshack fashion. I'm all about tweaking and improving (sometimes to the detriment of the cab). It's part of the fun.

It's part of the fun.
It's most of the fun.
(hey, how did I do with your quote this time? Better than the other one?)
-
Totally. After I finished my first cab the first thing I wanted to do was build the next one. It's such a blast. Putting it together is more fun than playing it. Also better than playing it are peoples reactions to playing it. "I can't believe you did this!!" Good stuff.

I think I've played maybe 5 games on my cabinet in the last year...
-
Wow I must be a real game nerd. I actually like playing on my cab. It takes two or more people though.
Although statisfaction comes in the following order:
Success building
Positive user feed back ("where did you buy this?"... I made.... "no where did you buy it?")
Success troubleshooting
Success tweaking
Buying new things to build, tweak, or troubleshoot with.

That's what you get when you write a book instead of playing games!!
;D

The only time I play games now is when I'm trying to see if what I did to the cab hardware or software worked.

I'm with this guy. I built a cabinet, didn't do everything I wanted but it's playable. Instead of improving the 1st cabinet, I got a 2nd cabinet. I play my 1st one a lot. It's going to be a dedicated 4 way cabinet, and my next cabinet is going to be a fighter/trackball cabinet.
