For those here that have used the Ultimarc T-sticks, what sized mounting hole did you use in your control panel? (Not the holes to hold the stick on, but rather the hole for the joystick itself.) I have been to the Ultimarc web site, but I don't see any mounting instructions anywhere. Also, I am assuming that the metal mounting plate shown on the picture of the stick mounts on the underside of the control panel. If this is incorrect, I would appreciate a correction ;D

Dave,
I don't have a t-stick stick myself but my buddy has one so I just gave him a call. He says he used a 1&1/4 hole, mounted in 1/2 mdf + 1/16 lucite with no depth routing for the stick. He said you would be OK with 1&1/4 or even a little smaller if you are mounting in 3/4 whatever. Hope this helps.

I used a 1 1/8" hole for the stick, same as my buttons.

how exactly do you do the depth routing? I am using a super 8way from happs, and it is too short. I am using 3/4" MDF for the control panel....

Thanks for the information 2slk and eightbit. I ordered two T-sticks yesterday to replace my supers. I'll be happy to compare the two for anyone interested.

Dave,
I just received my own order from ultimarc today that included a j-stick. The tension is much lighter on the j-stick compared to the t-stick. If you are mounting in a standalone CP that is small or light, you may want to take that into consideration.
romid,
Check out the examples section. There are plenty of routing pics.

That is a good point 2slk .. perhaps I should see if I can change my order to the j-stick as my control panel is both small and light. I should have read the description better I suppose.
If you have had a chance to try out the j-stick, how is the movement? My dream stick is one that I can play Karate Champ, Gyruss, and Robotron with, and I have heard the corners are much more defined with the j-stick (making a game like Gyruss or Robotron more difficult).
Thanks,
Dave

The J-Stick has really light movement, but also the corners are very defined. Gyruss is of course playable, but it just doesn't feel round.
Luckily I still have to Wico leaf-sticks, this are roundish as hell, and will fit my second 2-player panel. Though I'd prefer playing the old games on a one-stick-panel - when playing together its always annoying to have two sticks and only the first can be used.
