Title: Where'd Mameworld.net go? (I got the MAMEWAH system files..THANKS!)

Post by: saint on February 18, 2006, 08:33:46 pm: Make sure it doesn't get a ".txt" appended to it, and you also don't want the "hosts.sam" file -- that's just a sample. Full file name is "hosts" --- no extension.

/etc/hosts on linux boxes, but if you're running a linux box you likely already know that :)

Mmmm no idea on a Mac.

Possibly C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc on some Windows boxes.

Here's where I get the HOSTS file with lots of nasty sites already blocked. Install that, then tag the mameworld dns onto the end of the file, as saint said, with a txt editor (double click the HOSTS file, and when windows asks you how to open, just use notepad).

Some good reading there too, gives you a better idea what the file is supposed to do.
