Title: Capcom Street Fighter 15th Anniv ARC Stick????
Post by: NeoGeoPlaya on February 14, 2006, 02:24:14 pm
Is this awesome and worth buying?  Why are so many people modding it once purchased?  Is it inadequate out of the box?

I'm thinking about picking one up.  I just found one at EB today for $59.

People here mod, because that is just what we do. :)

It is not BYOAC for:

Buy
Your
Own
Arcade
Controls

It is BYOAC for:

Build
Your
Own
Arcade
Controls

That being said...

The buttons are convex, so that would be the first thing to get swapped, and generally speaking...

The sticks that usually come in those controllers can be greatly improved upon, and rather cheaply at that.

I thought the "fighter" guys liked convex buttons...

I dunno that it really has anything to do with fighter guys. It is just a preference of whatever a person grows to feel most comfortable with.

Kind of like ball vs bat tops. I am not so much a fan of ball tops. I can use em all the same, but it doesn't match the feel I am most comfortable with.

I have seen some fans of the convex mention that the buttons allow for a faster movement when gliding your fingers from button to button, but I can't honestly see that difference in my play with em. The lift and movement of my fingers is the same regardless which buttons I use, but I find it a much nicer feel when my finger rests into the button rather than on top of it.

Yes, people buy it becuase its a cool looking stick. The stock buttons are super tall, so for 20-30 bucks its worth it to put in some happs, convex or concave whatever you like. For 99 bucks after modding it is totally worth it in my book. Its very nice art in my opinion.

Yeah dude, I posted it in consoles.  Wanted to be sure to get some feedback and wasn't sure which forums that most people would be reading....
I found this as well:

Right now it's between this stick, an X-Arcade, Hori Pro, or Mas Systems.
I hate decisions!  Blargh!
