Ok Mamewah is set up and working fine - but for some reason when I attempt to do a filtered list it is creating a filtered down list of the main roms (seems without clones) and gives me no options to customize (i.e light gun games & year filters etc).
I know this option is available as it was working on my previous computer. My new mame computer is set up but for some reason it does not produce any options. I am running mamewah 1.61 version with buddamame's 1.02 build version.
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks

Make sure you are using 'list_generation_method rom_folder_vs_listxml',
Generate the 'main' list,
Make sure you have a custom list selected (not the main one),
Go into Games List Options > Generate Filtered List > etc...

Thanks for your reply Minwah.
I have two hard disk drives and currently have my roms on the D:\ drive seperately.
The mame folder which contains everything else (mame.exe) etc is on the C:\ how do i tell mamewah where the xml folder is (where is the default location that mamewah will look?).
Do I need to have the rom folder in with the mame folder for it to work?
Thanks

You need to set 'rom_path' accordingly in your (mamewah) emulator ini file.

No, but you must setup MAME properly so it knows where your roms are (this is totally independant of FE). ie, you need to set your 'rompath' in \mame\mame.ini.

Have been trying to figure this out for ages and I am now getting frustrated. I am using budda's latest build and Mamewah 1.61 all my rom paths are set up as well as artwork etc and all work fine.
I created a listxml using the command line - I have it set-up the emulator.ini file as rom_folder_vs_listxml, but when I load mamewah I cannot filter the lists at all.
I cannot see what I am doing wrong.
Please help :'(

I don't know what you mean by 'created a listxml'...you don't need to do anything like that - use Mamewah to generate your games list.
Go back and check my first reply - follow those instructions as that is all you have to do. You don't say exactly why you can't filter the lists, so I assume you probably don't have a custom list selected (you cannot filter the main 'All Games' list).
Edit: btw your ini file looks absolutely fine, so don't change anything there.

Ok then, is it because I am using budda's build and not the main mame build (uncompiled version). I select a list (Fighting Games) go to create list (generate filtered list).
When I click on the filtered list option nothing happens it creates a list of games which I think are the filtered down list of the main list (display clones only if better than parent, i think) it gives me 3000 odd roms?
