It actually happened at an elementary school I went to... dude in a van with a clown suit trying to entice kids into the van. He drove around for about two weeks. He didn't get any kids but we had cops everywhere and two school assemblies telling us that we would die if we got in the van.

Sounds like the cops in my home town. When I was a kid a guy broke out of the county jail (well, walked out an unlocked door anyway). They eventully found him eight hours later hiding behind an air conditioner that was right outside the door that he let himself out of.

Then they'd try it again the next day. Not sure what ended the whole thing. I was like 5 so the memory is a bit fuzzy other than the cops coming and saying CLOWNS IN VANS ARE TRYING TO KILL YOU LITTLE BOY.
