Hello all,
I got my mag-stick plus on Friday and made a sample CP to test everything out. It seems to work OK. I notice when I push the joystick UP it has to travel further than when I go down or to the sides. Seems like there's a bit more play in there.
Problem is I was playing Street Fighter and after moving around, lots of times the joystick would seem to be centered but would still be regsistering the UP command. I'd ahve to actually pull the JS down in order to get the up microswitch to un-click.
Not sure if the microswitches can be adjusted at all or not (didn't look like it from what I saw) or if maybe I could take one from a button and swap it with that one (assuming that would even fit).
Any suggestions on that little problem?

I did that since one of my m.sw. broke and they are similar but not the same.There is that metal piece that I even attach to regular m.sw. because it didn't work without it, but it is different feel to it now.(It works) Just doesn't feel the same.
I emailed Andy and he is sending me replacement for it. I think that is your best bet, tell him about it and he will help you out, he is good that way.

I had the same problem with a standard spring fitted T-Stik when, as an experiment, I swapped the standard microswitches with some cherry switches I removed from a Happ Super. It appears the standard T-Stiks come fitted with very stiff microswitches for a reason. Having said that, I'm not really sure whether the problem was caused by the super microswitches being less stiff, or because they have a different activation point.
Another thing I've noticed with the T-Stiks is that the microswitches are held in place with a screw and a plastic lug. With three of the switches the plastic lug is nearest the activator, but on the 4th switch the screw and lug are reversed so the screw is nearest the activator. It's hard to explain in words but anyone who looks at the joystick base will see what I mean. This 4th switch moves about more than the other three (in relation to the activator) and thus seems to cause the most problems.
If it is the 4th switch causing the problem then perhaps you could wrap some tape round the screw to help keep the switch in its correct position. Also, according to another thread (here) (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=51051.msg498832#msg498832) the problem can be solved by bending the metal bar. I haven't risked this myself as I don't have any spare switches, and the tolerances are very tight.

Selection switches can help. Similarly turning over actuator about 90 degrees. Cause this well-fitting tightly 'pivot'. I have 4 mag-sticks and I gave to them mat from foil and this helped. Too large gap among "pivot/base" it causes the asymmetric throw and engagement of stick. This is the most visible when joystick he be installed in panel under angle (axis Y)

You are correct. The switch that is "different" from the rest is the one that is giving me problems. I will need to check it, to make sure it is tight.

I ended up loosening the screw on the switch in the top left hand corner. This allowed the switch to have a little "give" and helped the switch not to stick. It passed the first test, so I'll see how it goes....
