Title: Power on (Sanyo)
Post by: tennesseemame on February 13, 2006, 03:36:54 pm
Hello,

My situation is an old one, but I havent been able to find a specific solution.  Perhaps someone here can help.  I have a 27 inch Sanyo (DS27425) as the monitor in my cabinet, with an s-video connection.
I am using a smart strip from bits limited.  When I hit my single power button on my control panel everything powers on except the TV.  I have been told that I need to go into the service menu and make the appropriate change to enable auto power-on.  I did a little research and was able to get into the service menu.  But the service menu is not user friendly.  I have tried to acquire a service manual for my TV, but was unsuccessful.  Does any one know what changes need to be made within the service menu.
Thank you.

well, you just need to find an option that says what to do when power is applied to the cord where none was before.  basically, your asking the tv to power on after there has been a power outage, cept your causing the power outages when you shutdown your pc, and re-supplying power when you turn on your pc.

How does this help me?  I'm not trying to be rude, and I hope this isnt taken that way.

I realize that I need to have a way to tell the TV to auto power on when it sees electrical power.  And I believe that method is in the service menu.
The service menu is merely letters and numbers with no explanation.  I havent been able to decypher it.  If I could find a service manual perhaps I could.  I was hoping that someone here had knowledge of this particular Sanyo model (DS27425) or any Sanyo for that matter, as the codes may be the same.

There seems to be a PDF manual here (http://www.sanyo.com/entertainment/televisions/stereo/downloads/DS27425%20DS32225_0201A-(ENG).pdf (http://www.sanyo.com/entertainment/televisions/stereo/downloads/DS27425%20DS32225_0201A-(ENG).pdf)), but I don't see anything in there that says anything about detecting power source, etc. etc, but then again, I don't really know what I'm looking for.

[Edit]
Oh, now I get it.  Duh...a service manual is not an owner's manual... :(  Sorry.
