Title: Radeon9700 to TV using S-Video.
Post by: Fat_Trucker on February 12, 2006, 05:48:23 pm
Just got hold of an old PC with a Radeon 9700 with S-Video out which I'm trying to get up and running on my (PAL) TV.

The socket on the card is 7 pin and the socket on my TV is 4 pin.
Got a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter and plugged into the TV.

Set up the card to TV display at 800x600 and when the card is in black and white mode it displays a completely stable, clear,  flicker free image.

As soon as I change the card settings to colour the image becomes 'jumpy' and the colours everything actually 'twinkles' a faint red white and blue, although the image is still pretty much like a tinted black and white.

Anyone know how to get these puppies displaying ok with a TV?. My TV has S-Video, Component, Scart and RF in sockets.

Do you need the adapter?
I have a few Radeon cards, and they all have multiple pins, but a regular S-video cable works for the video...I think the rest are for video-in, etc.  One of my cards came with a cable that was S-video (looking) on one end, and the other had S-video in, RCA in, and I think RCA out, but the thing worked fine with a regular S-video cable...
