Title: question: monitor went black after tipping cab.....
Post by: cyruszain on February 11, 2006, 06:27:20 pm
I should be able to put a cab on it side without it affecting the monitor, correct?  I was playing it just minutes before i tipped it down.
I wanted to fix a problem at the base of the cabinet so i put it on its side, now the monitor has gone black?  I can hear it turn on, but i get no picture. I had to come up to feed the kids and won't get to it until tomorrow so i'm scouring the boards.
Looking for suggestions
thank you

I was careful, the cab was placed gently

Check your monitor video cable connections 1st, also try adjusting your brightness controls, next check that the crt neck for cracks. Did you hear any hissing sounds? If you did the crt neck lost its gas and you will need a new monitor. Why did you tip the unit on its side and not on its back? Also use a volt meter and check your power supply voltages to the monitor...

unfortunatley when i first plugged it in, i had the stereo blasting and i just plugged it in expecting it to work so i wasn't really paying attention to hear anything. Is there a way to check if it's lost gas, other than an obvious crack or something. I checked the voltage, it is fine....connections were played around with as was brightness. I am assuming the worst here.
I  tipped it on the side to work on the very bottom edge of the cab. It has some damage running front to back on the side at the bottom and it was easier to fix laying it down flat.
thank you

Was the monitor securely bolted down?

Has it had a capkit recently?

Bad solder joints on the monitor main board can cause problems.
