Woo Hoo.
Got my 6 buttons and Joystick yesterday so I put together a starter panel to play around with. And woo hoo, everything worked on the first try.
Had to go buy a 1-1/8" spade bit to drill the button holes. Then used a Holw saw to drill a starter hole for the joystick and filled some edges to get it to fit.
Wiring up everything was a piece of cake. Just used Cat5 cables and pulled them apart. Used orage for the buttons, Green for the joystick and white/gray for the grounds.

if you start having problems with intermittent connections, check those wires first. I ended up having to redo my WHOLE control panel ( a 4 player beast with a retarded number of buttons) because I used cat5 cable which as you know is a solid wire. Doesn't always stay in place in a crimped situation as a stranded wire.
just an FYI.

Thanks for the tip. I took some advice I had seen here and bent the end of the wire over before I crimped it in the connector so hopefully that will keep it in there nice and tight.
