I have an older version of the ArcadeVGA (based off of the Radeon 7000 series) and a Wells Gardner U2000. The specs for the monitor say that it has a resolution of 560 x 240, horizontal scan of 15.1-18 KHz, and a vertical scan of 47-63 Hz.
I Installed ArcadeVGA drivers, used Quickres utility to run at 640 x 288, installed MAMEWAH and chose to use the 640 x 288 layout.
I've noticed some weird things:
The "Vertical position" potentiometer on my monitor is all the way to one extreme but the bottom line of text (or image) of my screen is not at the bottom of the monitor. The bottom of the screen has ~ 1/2" between last line of text and the bottom edge of the tube while the text at the top of the screen is either at or extended past the top of the tube. What could cause this? (It's like I need to just turn the Vertical position pot and move the image down, but like I said it is already at the far extreme.)
If I adjust the height potentiometer so that the top of the screen is still on the tube, the bottom line of text in MAMEWAH and the bottom lines of other images on the screen are scrunched up. I can then use the "Height" potentiometer to fix this, but in doing so, the top of the screen is expanded up past the top of the tube.
I just replaced the HOT in this monitor, but I believe the same behavior was occurring before I did that.
Suggestions?

You probably need a capkit for that monitor.

I checked out the bottom of my deflection board and noticed that various parts have apparently been replaced in the past and some of the circuit traces are looking kind of cruddy. How many repairs can there boards take before they finally start to go?
Given what I saw, I was thinking of possibly buying a used (but working fine) deflection board for my U2000. Any idea where I might find one? Or given all I've heard about this monitor, should I just replace it with a K7400? Are all of the connections on that monitor that same as on the U2000?
-
The U-2000 was very trouble plagued and was quickly replaced by the k7400. It does not mean however that you can simply plop in a k7400 chassis on here. Wells makes a kit to convert your U2000 into a k7400, but it involves replacing the yoke, neckboard, and main board. Wells has priced that kit so high that it's better to just buy a new k7400 monitor instead.
BTW, Wells often made modification on the foil side of the chassis during production runs. Chances are that's what all that is on the bottom of yours. Don't touch any of that.
A suggestion for you to consider is that since this is a standard resolution chassis, why not get one of the Wei-Ya replacement chassis that Alva Amusement sells? That would certainly be a good cheap alternate to getting this monitor up and running again.

So I guess I'd have to go with the 825H chassis then?
Is it an issue that they say the max resolution of that chassis is 320 x 240, but the max resolution of my U2000 is 560 x 240?
-
I have no specs on the 825 or 826 chassis. It's not posted on Wei-ya's website.

I was going on the specs listed by Alva Amusements here:

Are they correct?

I am having this same exact problem with a Hantarex Polo 25" monitor:
If you figure out a resolution, please let me know what it is, I'd really appreciate it. I've posted my question under the monitor/video forum.

I had a similar problem, fixed it by change the hz from 60 to 50
