OK, I spent several hours last night reading the 17 page saga of how the the gp49 came to be. (Tryin to get me an education). I am a little looped from the whole thing. So much drama. The end of the thread is about 7 months old and things around here accelerate quickly, so, I am asking for new news. Is there any?

Is there a front end that will tell the gp wiz which mode to use?
MikeQ is this something that PowerMAME can do?
(I didn't post this in the PowerMAME section as it was not just strictly a PowerMAME question.)

I gotta tell you, it was cool to read it from front to back. First it was all a theoretical yelling match, then Randy released it. the tone changed to a lighter rumble, but still a rumble. Then it was "cant we all be friends". What I liked is that this is a community that cares very deeply for something. We do not want a substitute, we want the real thing. I love the fact that Randy listens to us and works off of that. He is a magician of sorts with his gizmos and the wizard avatar is really appropriate. He tries desperately to bring us the real deal w some new ideas. We want the real thing yet we drool over lighting up a CP which was never done in the arcades. The car guys have car mods we get CP mods and we each have our own ideas of what "cool" is (and most of it is). But what I also really like is that it does not stop with the maker, it gets picked up and enhanced by others and the sum becomes greater than the parts. Need - Need filled - Filled need enhanced. It is a friggin exciting hobby. Sure I am loopy from too much reading(the reason for the long drunkin sounding post). And quite frankly a little mixed up as to what right and wrong is (from all the arguments). But I think that I got the main idea. Once all the cab expenses stop with the huge sucking noise, the CP sucking noise will start, and Randy will have a chunck of my money (and I am ok with that).

That thread is even harder to read now than it was when it was current. A user named "Ahigh" went and deleted every post he ever made, which put a bunch of holes in the thread. So now, you see people responding to stuff he said, but you don't know what. It's aggravating.

GameEx is a front end that supports switching of the 49 way modes built in (it picks the modes) using Randy's application to do the actual switching or using SirPoonga's set49mode. Mamewah also has support for using set49mode. Basically any front end that can run a program or batch file before and after mame will work. GameEx can pass either a mode number or a rom name to an external app. I beleive that Mamewah passes the rom name to the app.

Thanks Kremmit. I hope things are going well for you. I'm still observing, but I just don't have time to contribute. I might vent more of my anger here but I don't have time to actually post something with any sort of committment and then go and defend it to asses like CC, mahuti, BrokenBones, or other trouble makers. I got sick of this place.

I'm not really the trouble maker here. You have to admit that taking the ball home IS the epitome of lame. If you never did that, then I wouldn't call you lame. If you did... well.....I don't think that's me being a trouble maker, I think the shoe's on the other foot.
Anyway, I personally have little concern about the pursuits of Ultracade, and I've never gone on any tirade about it. I generally try to rather diplomatic, so I apologize for letting slip with what looks like an attack. Let me say that again... I'm sorry man. You made plenty of good posts when you were posting. Don't let us raise your blood pressure.

Oh man the custom event upon coin drop is AWESOME!!! Event based lighting is really nice as well. Do you have to get into the code of the game to do that? Is it hard to make the thing go nuts if you get an extra life in a game?

Oh man the custom event upon coin drop is AWESOME!!! Event based lighting is really nice as well. Do you have to get into the code of the game to do that? Is it hard to make the thing go nuts if you get an extra life in a game?

The coin drop lighting is based off of port activations so it is in the core code. I haven't yet implemented anything that triggers off of a games internal memory ports. That will come later...maybe next.

Mike is the GPWiz49 interface included in PowerMAME now? I just downloaded PowerMAME and didn't see it. I am also on a computer that does not have my GPWiz49's hooked up, so that could be it.

Got PowerMame up and running with the GPWiz49 sticks and this is exactly what I was waiting for. Great Job!!!
Question - Is there a way to switch between the 2 joysticks for single player games? example - In Sinistar I like to use my Joystick2 because it is closer to the center of my CP. I checked out the config and you can only change the GPWiz settings for J1.
