ok guys i got an idea of making a bartop with nintendo in it. now i have a question.
what should or how do i get the controls of nintendo to work with joysticks and buttons?
also one last question what type of buttons and joystikc do you guys think i should use? thinkin of using 2 of those 4way pacman/galaga?
im goin to make a control panel consisting of 2 joystick, 2 selects, 2 starts, 4 buttons for play. all for two players.
thanks

As for interfacing with the NES console I would just hack a set of nintendo gamepads, there are plently of guides out there if you need the know how.
I don't know if I would go with a 4-way joystick unless you plan to only play 4-way type nintendo games. My Super Mario Bros. Vs. cabinet has 8-way joysticks in it and I think it would play wierd with a 4-way stick.
Oh one more thing, you said you wanted to use 4 buttons per player. If this is going to be based on an NES then what are the extra two buttons for?

my bartop is goin to be based of nes so
i would have for each player and i have only 2 players
1 joystick
2 buttons A and B
2 buttons Select and Start
now i have a question which type of joystick should i use to have the real sort of feel like i want to play galaga, pacman, and mario game(s)
thanks
edit im also having a sort of hard time findin a guide to hack nintendo pads
anyone have a link to one?

I would go with a T-stick plus
switches from 4 way to 8 way with a pull up and twist of the wrist
or any other type of j-stick that switches from 4 to 8 way would do
poney boy has some T-stick's for sale.
his type you switch a lever from under the CP . these work just as well if you make your CP a flip up type or can reach in the BTTM of it.

sorry to ask so many question for a joystick i want a balltop and if it is going to switchable i want it from top function not bottom. so i would go with t-stick plus? but here is my question does it actually feel like a nintendo pad would as in the throws and such?
now where i would i be able to get balltop ,4-8way top swithable joystick from?

i did a little research on the t-stick plus and i hear most people saying that it has a short throw i don't know if the nintendo pad does that or not. i think this is the hardest decision i every have to make for a joystick lol
so if you guys know what joystick i should really get for a dedicated nintendo please give me some inputs
i will play games like these
zelda
galaga
pacman
mario
final fantasy
double dragon
games like those
