Title: CP overlay from Mamemarquees coming undone...
Post by: rwhip41 on February 09, 2006, 06:54:18 pm
I'd like to get some advice...

My control panel overlay is coming undone, and probably because of my actions. I build a control panel, primed and painted all exterior surfaces including where the overlay was going. The overlay went on very nice and flat. I left it in my car for a few nights (cold nights, warm days) and now it's starting to blister and become detached.

1). Has anyone else had this happen without the temperature extremes?
2). Any suggestions on how to remedy this...other than removing it from the car...to make it permanently flat?

Thanks.

Go to the store and find some incilyn (sp?) syringes. These are the smallest needles I know of. poke the bubbles and press out the air.

I'll do that. I may even have some unopened syringe packages laying around that a diabetic friend gave me for my chemistry stuff (makes for easy and accurate drop-by-drop transfer).

As of now, I am able (for the most part) to press out the unattached areas out to the sides, which are also coming undone. Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't ever used a cpo from mamemarquees, but I sure do use cold or heat to kill adhesives... I've put glued items in the freezer to pry them apart or used a heat gun when it wasn't heat-sensitive.

Have you considered aerosol spray can type contact cement from 3M or similar companies? I use it to carpet car audio projects and that stuff is damn tacky when you spray it on both sides, let them sit for a couple minutes, and then put them together.

I have a MAME Marquees CPO and iit is holding great. So yeah, I agree about the heat / cold thing. I hope you don't have to pull the whole thing off then back on. that could prove to be the end of that CPO.
