That would require a composite video to VGA converter

Something like that... it's close.. but I'm sure you don't need the tuner. If you have one laying around it's great... otherwise... just buy a tv. It's cheaper.
The minimum I've seen a converter go for is around $60, but it's been so long since I looked for one.

damn that really sucks, i was really lookin foward on using this monitor. i really don't want to buy a computer just to play 2 games. :(
so converter aye? hmmm i think i may have of those.
any other alternatives?

you could also use a tv instead of your monitor, but I guess that defeats the purpose of this thread.

yeah but this project is soppose to be low budget so i was not tryin to spend more than 50 bucks.

I bought a 13 TV/VCR combo on ebay for $15 local so no shipping - it eats tapes but who cares.
I've also seen 13 TVs in pawnshops for about $30.

Yup. Sell your computer monitor for $20 or so and then go buy a cheap TV on ebay/Craigslist.

yeah tell me about it im still thinin of hacking vga cable some how to composite video lol but i don't know guess im gonnna have to hold on a month first finish my cab then this :(

You're not going to be able to just splice wires together to do what you want.. it just won't work. You either need a TV, or a VGA/Composite converter as mentioned.
If there was a cheap way to do this, someone here would have figured it out already.

None of the above!! The best way to go here is to get a cheap old PC and run MAME on it. Several advantages here.... 1) almost any old PC can cope with PACMAN and other early 80's games.... 2) you can also run all the PACMAN Variants (and other early 80's stuff) 3) Easy to connect to your monitor 4) Easy to connect to a set of controls by using one of Randy T's Superb value Keywiz interfaces.
This is also cheaper than buying an original PACMAN board and doesn't require anything extra to connect it to a VGA PC monitor.
It really is your best way to go with this if you really do want to do this on a budget and even if you haven't got an old PC hanging around, then you could do the whole thing for about $50 with a bit of begging and scrounging and scrap collecting.

Use MAME in cocktail mode and when it's player two's turn the screen gets flipped the other way up by the software. Problem Solved!...... You might want to look at using a specific Cocktail front end / loader as well.

I've now answered him on the same question in three separate threads he's started on this topic...
Mus! Get it through your head that you're not going to be able to build a bartop for absolutely nothing.... Unless you already have the stuff you need laying about. Also try reading what people tell you... You can't connect that 5 in 1 TV game to a PC monitor without having to spend more money than you would have to to emulate the games on a cheap PC.
PLEASE! Don't go starting another thread asking the same question yet again.

I used to run mame on a 233 mhz freee junk PC and it worked just fine with the classics.
