HI,
I'm running Project64 on my cab. I have a six button Street Fighter set up.
For any experienced Nintendo 64 people out there, in order to be able to play the most games without a control problem, what would be the best six button config for the 64 on a cab?
What I mean is: should the "A" botton be mapped to button 1; etc.
Thanks.

dont do it man.. spend the extra loot and get some adaptoids and genuine n64 controllers.

yeah, it's the same thing as having genuine arcade controls, cept i wouldn't fork out 50 dollars for an adaptoid. buy a generic adapter, they work just as well for controllability.
on a side note, how are the compatibility numbers with project 64 so far? when i tried it about this time last year, too many of the games just weren't properly emulated yet.

This is hard to say. Just depends on what N64 games you plan on playing. i am using a ps2 controller in my pc and each different game i play i have to remap the buttons. zelda uses all the c buttons so you have to map them kinda next to each other... mario kart uses Cdown so it should be close to A so you can fire while driving.. etc. Basically like screaming said just hook up a N64 controller and make it like the demo tv at walmart or something.
Not only that the controller has 10 buttons (including start) plust the dpad then the analog so the 6 buttons may not be enough for the right game

I'm using a Playstation 2 controller usb adapter on my cab for console games.
It costs

I thoght they had issues with specific controllers (generally non-Nintendo ones), with using two at once, aren't rumble-pack compatible, and can't use N64 memory cards? The adaptiod ones work all around.

I say spend the extra money and find an Adaptoid. The are supported natively and have full functionality. They work great.

I second that. When I first put Project64 into my cab I thought I could use all the same buttons and joysticks that are on the cab.
It sucked!
So a nice little wireless MadCatz controller stuffed away inside the cab when not in use was the way to go. It was effortless to configure inside Project64.
Besides what would you do if you dont have an analogue stick on your cab to use for N64 games. There is no easy way to play a lot of games without analogue.
Good Luck to you.

Well considering the n64 controller has NINE buttons and an ANALOG STICK I think you might have to use the original controllers.
Sorry to yell, but ask a stupid question.......

Not all games use all buttons though, which i think was some of his subtext.
I still think anyone who wants to run N64 games on their PC needs an adaptoid with original controllers. Save up your allowance and splurg. You wont regret it.
