Title: questions about TMNT cabinet
Post by: Distortion on February 13, 2003, 11:14:00 am
I am picking up a TMNT cabinet tonight which, from what I hear, is either hacked to a set of NES controllers or one of the old playchoice-10 cabinets.  I'm going to convert it to work with MAME with an I-PAC.  Anyways...I was browsing the art/multimedia section looking for an example of such a cabinet and found this pic of the control panel
(http://www.arcadecontrols.com/images/controlpanels/tmnt1.gif)
From what I've heard, it's likely not a playchoice-10 cabinet, but I'll have to wait and see on that.  Does anyone know where I can get some good TMNT artwork either to buy or to download a pic of a marquee or side art or something?

Well, it turns out...this cabinet has been very poorly converted to TMNT, but some of the side art is still pretty nifty, and I'm going to try and keep it.  It's white and dirty now, so I'll probably paint it either green or yellow....possibly black, but everybody's cabinets seem to be winding up black.  The wood is dry-rotten in a few places, so I'm going to try and replace just those parts of the cabinet.  I hope to have it in one piece and running by my graduation party.

Unless your getting it very cheaply I would say it isn't worth the money.  Nintendo monitors are sometimes touchy to inteface to the pc, playchoice controls  have nasty mini joysticks on them, and there isn't a lot of room to add standard size controls.

People do like the control panels though as replacement parts and such.  I would suggest making a new panel from scratch if you plan to add more buttons as this one is very original and in excellent condition.
