Title: resolution issues arcadevga/jpac
Post by: hnugz on February 06, 2006, 10:30:28 am
I moved my pc to my cabinet and I believe I have all of the drivers installed correctly.  The vid card is showing correctly in device manager and I have the control panel installed with the galaga icon in the system tray.  After this was installed, everything seems to be ok.  I can see the post and it boots up normally, however the screen seems to be "pulling" to the right a bit.

Here is an example (http://www.horrorcoregames.com/pics/IMG_1860.JPG)

When the screen initially loads, it looks ok but then it pulls out to the right.  You can see it adjust there.  What is this an issue with?  Do I need to adjust the monitor itself or did I mess up the installation somewhere?

The resolution is currently set to 640x480 in both windows and mamewah.  This brings me to my second issue.

I have seen lots of posts and even the ultimarc site says to set the resolution to 640x288.

If I do that I get something that looks like this. (http://www.horrorcoregames.com/pics/IMG_1861.JPG)  And here is another example. (http://www.horrorcoregames.com/pics/IMG_1862.JPG)  It took me forever to get windows to sit still again.  Same thing with mamewah.  Now both of them are at 640x480.  However, when I run mame I still have those same issues.  I ran the avres tool to set the resolutions but it still looks like that.  How can I fix this?

*edit - hmm, maybe this should be in software?

The first one looks like your brightness or contrast is up too high and the colours are bleeding.

The second one looks like the v-hold just needs adjusting. But the picture will most likely roll once you switch to other resolutions, so you may have to find a middle-ground for your settings.

you are a genius.  changed those settings on the panel i had for my monitor and it looks great now.  640x288 works as well.  thanks very much.
