My wife got me a multijamma kit for x-mas for my mk cabinet in which will be running all the mk boards. I have yet to get it running, not to much tinkering time with it but none the less can't get anything to work. as of right now I have the master board hooked up and 1 switch board hooked up to test it. I have the jumpers set to 8 games as the manual says to test to make sure everything works right. the problem is no matter how many time I press the switch button nothing happens. the game never seems to get power. the power supply I have has enough specs to power 8 boards if it needed to but I only have it hooked up to 1. any help would be appreciated. ive tried contacting clay a couple different ways and he has not replied.

Is the power connected to the board you are trying to test and not just to the kit? Is the monitor powered up? Looking at the diagrams, you need to power each PBC.

power is hooked up to both the switch and master board as the manual says. monitor turns on as well but nothing on screen. the manual suggests pressing the button 8-12 times untill you find the board and it lights up but i've sat there for minutes pressing the button and nothing has happened.

Can I see a pic of your boards (connected, of course) ?
What connection are you using to power the switch board ?
Are your power supplies sharing a common ground ?

I can snap a picture when I get home from work today. I have one power supply hooked up at the moment just to test everything and see how I want to arrange everything. The power supply is not connected to any other grounds and is powering everything via the pc connectors it comes with. Sorry if there's some ignorance with this but I'm new to arcade machines and have quickly become addicted. I appreciate all the help.

Could the fact that it's not grounded toanything else be my issue. The manual says if using disk drive type power supply that the ground is already linked. seems a little misleading since it says you MUST link all the grounds and then in the next sentence it says is using a pc power supply not to worry about it.

In my configuration, I use the power in the JAMMA harness to drive the controller board and use a PC power supply to drive the switch boards. I clipped the floppy connector from the PC power supply and ran a write from the ground to the ground spot on the controller board. Voila, common grounds.
While I know next to nothing about fighters, I think that you'll need the main power supply from your cabinet anyway since I believe you'll need -5v for the sound on at least some of the MK boards (IIRC, you can get the -5V to the switch boards using the auxiliary power pins on the switch boards).
So, I guess if I have a question here it would be: is the main cabinet power supply still connected to the JAMMA harness ?
After that I would ask if the LED on the controller board is lit ? What about on the switch board ?

contorller board is lit, not on the switch board, original power supply in cab is powering the controller. now let me get your ground right. you have the ground on the contorller going to the floppy clip which goes to the main ground in the cab?

Let me grab my manual ...
OK, on the PC power supply, I snipped the molex connector for the floppy drive and stripped the black ground wires, then crimped them to a length of wire with a butt connector. I soldered the other end of this extended ground wire to the ground point (labelled E in the diagram of controller connections ... it's a little hole right above web site address on the controller board).
The LED on the switchboard should only light when it is "active".
You might want to reset the jumpers for a 2-game system and install a second switch board. and see if you can get either to light.
I should also ask if you have a multimeter (if you don't, get one) to check the volatages coming from the second power supply (I had a PS where the fan would run, but no power).

Well cheffo help me solve my problem. I had to trick the power supply into thinking it was hooked up to a mobo. to do this I took the only green wire and spliced it with any black ground wire. Then once I had picture there was an issue with sound. I supplied -5 to the switch board via the ps and everything works wondefully. Thank you again cheffojeffo.

I guess you still have to wire the extra buttons to the switch and controller boards -- let us know how that works out (I haven't done that as the boards in my MJ are all specialty controls connected directly to the main PCBs).
