Title: How to stream video
Post by: vader on February 05, 2006, 01:13:27 am
Hey Guys,

I wanted to know how to stream live video from a home webcam.  What software is required and how to set it all up.  It can be streaming or something that just takes snap shots.  Is there a freeware program that allows this.  I will checking the images via PDA.  My IP is static if that helps.

Thanks

Tim

You're probably running windows, but if by some chance you are running linux, I'd recommend webcam_server.  It's really easy to setup and has a nice java webpage so you can get more than 1 frame every 30 seconds.  Mine is on a slow cable modem, but I can still get 3-5 frames/second.

I found one I'm using called webspy fx....works pretty well, instead of streaming, I just set it to take snapshots...it does it like every second.  This works best for me since I'm viewing mostly on a pda...

Thanks,
