Anyone know a program that will do that? I have a folder with songs that are properly tagged, I just need to sort them into artist folders then album folders inside of that.
Otherwise, I want to go from:
C:\music\song.mp3
to:
C:\music\artist\album\song.mp3

sorry.. ignore these posts. im having a hard time trying to delete that last post.
I originally suggested something, but tried it, and it didnt work :)

It didn't work for me either. ;D

So try this first...on a different folder with a couple of different albums in it.
Ahh never mind...that didn't work either...
It's a daunting task...that within a few hours you can probably solve yourself.
Here's what I do when I run into similar situations due to, um, um...bad file management. ;)
Sort everything in the folder by artist first.
Scroll clear down to the bottom and starting with whatever artist is last, create a new folder for that artists and copy all files for that artist into that folder. You'll come back later and create individual album folders.
If you have various artists/soundtracks/compilations, you wanna go through and handle those first so your not separating them into multiple folders.
Converseley 30gb? Send them to me!!! I'll do it for a few bucks!

iTunes does that.

Tru dat! Unless you turn that option off, like I do, because I don't like my mp3s sorted that way.
I use a couple mp3 tagging tools, one of which will rename files as well. You can see all the tags, sort the huge mp3 list by whatever tag you want and then do bulk renames. So, if you wanted to, you could rename all your mp3s as: artist - album - song title.mp3 and then basically sort them into folders yourself though Windows pretty easily.
Or install iTunes and let it do all the work for you.

Outside of ITunes, I thought there was another program that did that. I could do it by hand, but 30 gigs is a couple more songs than I have patience for. I will do it if it comes down to it. Thanks for the help.
I would like to add, quarterback has been more than helpful to me in the last few months. Thanks man, I appreciate the help.

Yep ITUNES I forgot what it was like to have a music program that didn't do everything for me!!
THANK YOU Steve Jobs!!!

Yeah, I gave it a run through, and it worked well.

I have to admit that I didn't want to install it, but I got an iPod so I figured I had no choice. Doesn't it make you install QT as well? I can't remember exactly what it was that I didn't like about installing it, but I looked for some alternate solutions.
In case anybody's interested, the MP3 tagger I was talking about it MP3Tag (what an original name!) and is available here: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
I like it a lot. I have a 30-gig iPod and I spent innumerable hours (over the period of 1 week) renaming, organizing and re-tagging my music. MP3 Tagger worked really really well for me.
