Title: making a bezel for my showcase cab...
Post by: hulkster on February 03, 2006, 10:38:52 am
i have a showcase style cabinet, so it's not the traditional screen or anything.  ive read the instructions on how to create a bezel for the regular standup cabs, but this won't really apply to mine as my monitor section doesnt have any slant or anything for the bezel to rest on.  so what i will need is to make a bezel that looks good, but can either stand on its own upright, or be fastened to the side somehow.  i would show you a picture of of my monitor section but i dont have any with me right now (at work).

so can anyone suggest a good way to make a bezel that will stand straight up?  i have black poster board.  thanks for the help.

Without pictures it's a bit tough to tell what will work for you.

I have a 3-piece system on my vertical cab.
The monitor bolts to a piece of plywood that bolts to ledger blocks on the side of the cab, and the bezel actually has it's own piece of plywood with a larger hole than the monitor screen.
That piece sits almost flush to the front glass, and holds the "tails" of the monitor bezel in place when the front glass is put on.
The inside part of the bezel just floats slightly above the monitor screen.
The tails on the bezel, and the bare plywood of the bezel mounting board, are covered by the artwork on the front glass, just like they were on most dedicated arcade machines.

Again, without seeing what you have to work with, I have no idea if something similar to this is possible on your cab.

The plywood trick should work for you.
Here's pictures of how mine is setup.

NoOne=NBA=, I really like what you did with your bezel.  It deserves to be bumped up for people to see.
