Dear sir(s)
My name is Daniel and I have an arcade cabinet (Masterplay 25") which has a thin metal panel.
I want to change the joysticks on my cabinet
Right now I have original WICO CORP
-
Can I buy your old leaf switch joysticks off of you?
-
The J-Stick should mount useing the same holes as your Wico Joystick. The J-Stick is meant to be mounted on a slightly thicker panel than a straight metal panel. But you can always get some spacers/washers at your local hardware store to put on your mounting bolts to lower the stick to the correct height.

I'll trade your two Wico leafjoysticks for two BRAND-NEW Suzo joysticks with microswitches. IMHO the best (microswitch) joysticks on the planet....
-
About selling my Wico sticks.
I will, when I get new sticks.
The sooner I could get sticks, the sooner I can sell the Wico's.
Where is the cheapest shipping?
I live in the Netherlands.
thanks alot
This joysticks business is hard to find something fitting
-
Personally I prefer the feel of my Sanwa joysticks to the feel of my Seimitsu joysticks. But both companies sell a variety of different models so perhaps it's best not to over generalise.
-
Is there somebody with knowledge of baseplates.
Maybe I am an insane idiot, but first and foremost I want to know if a stick fits my cab.
Right now alot of sticks are out of my reach because I can only fit
3 inch or 7,6 cm width
2.6 inch or 6,6 cm height
please recommend where to get or what site can tell me more.
I conclude that too little info is available on the net on sticks.
That's why this board is flooded with stupid questions like mine.
I guess you all once were where I am now.
Do any of the Sanwa or Seimitsu sticks fit my cab 3 inch * 2.6 inch?
-
I prefer the sanwas as well after trying them. I have made custom adapter plates that let sanwas fit in the existing holes used by a happs super. I would sell the design given enough interest, but as for now not for sale. Heres a pic

Uhmm... The Ultimarc J-Stick and the Sanwa JLW joysticks will mount useing 3" x 2.6" mounting holes. If you don't believe me you can see a Diagram on Ultimarcs website under the joystick diagram section.

Which model is for thin control panels?
I don't want a too big stick sticking out of the cab!
On another forum someone mentioned the J-Stik might be too long and that I would need spacers to get the right height! I do not fancy mounting cluncky spacers. I want a short stick, that is designed with a thin control panel in mind.
Please correct me because I'm clueless

I wouldn't recomend any of the chinese clone joysticks from that website you linked. The one that is an imitation J-Stick (http://www.arcademvs.com/accesseriors/joystick_all.jpg) could be mounted on your control panel if you swaped out the mounting plate for a JLW mounting plate (http://www.himuragames.com/images/mounting_plate_05.jpg). But the clone is only an 8-way stick and doesn't come with the 4-way/8-way switchable restrictor so it wouldn't do you any good for pacman.
It was me who suggested that you could use spacers to mount the J-Stick. The height thing is a prefference though. What may seem to high to me may be just right for you. Also what is wrong with useing spacers? It isn't like they would make the joystick woble or anything.

Thanks for the info on those clones
Isn't it true that there are joysticks made for wooden panels and sticks for thin metal panels?
for wooden panels, a long shaft
For metal panels a short shaft
Is the J-Stik made for a wooden (thick) panel or for metal (thin) panels.
I mean that is the destinction right? I'm losing my mind. I wish I had a big brother who would let me explain these things.
Using spacers indeed won't make it wobly, but I don't have spacers laying around and living where I live, it's gonna take a goat and a half to get them.
Perhaps I can be recommended some good articles about sticks.
One day I will be managing an arcade (on sundays).

I belive on a standard Wico Joystick there is about 1" from the top of the control panel to the bottom of the ball top. The J-Stick has about 1.5" from the top of the control panel to the bottom of the ball top. So the J-Stick is .5" taller than the standard Wico joystick. Like I said if the .5" doesn't bother you then it is perfect. If you want it to be the same height as your wico you will need to use/make some .5" spacers. Where do you live that you can't buy spacers at your local hardware store or order some from a catalog?
