Title: Anyone know how to program mame for Karate champ?

Having trouble trying to map the controllers for karate champ in mame 102.  Anyone do one of these?

Original game uses two 4 way sticks... You know about hitting Tab to map the controls right?

I think this question is more to do with the assigned movements.

I have at two player cab, and got 2, 8 way super sticks. So it would not register if there are only 8 way sticks on there? I do know about hitting tab, and when I do the configs for 1st player are the controllers up down left right... then the 6 buttons.. how do I configure the 1st player 2nd joystick?

When you hit TAB, go into "General Game settings" and you will see "P1 Up", "P1 Down", etc... settings which you already know how to set ... these are for Player 1 games which use one joystick only.

What you need to do is fine the following settings, which you need to set for games where Player1 uses two joysticks:


"P1 Right/Up"     <--- Player1's right joystick UP
"P1 Right/Down"  <--- Player1's right joystick DOWN
"P1 Right/Left"
"P1 Right/Right"
"P1 Left/Up"  <--- Player1's LEFT joystick UP
"P1 Left/Down"  <--- Player1's LEFT joystick DOWN
"P1 Left/Left"
"P1 Left/Right"


... you can map similiar settings for Player 2 if you have games where Player 2 needs to use two joysticks as well (Smash TV perhaps?)

Sometimes it is kind of hard to get 2, 8 way controls to work with karate champ. My 4 way controller is in the lower middle of my control panel. So I use a four way and the player 2, 8 way. I get a better chance of executing the moves with this.

My Karate Champ works great with two 8-way joysticks .... just move them in the correct directions  ;)
